The Cheerful Chug is here to provide dependable, personalized care that helps pets feel happier and healthier while giving their people peace of mind.
Our goal is to build lasting relationships with pets and their families through trustworthy service, thoughtful care, and a genuine love for animals.
After meeting my husband, Jake, while we were both living in Savannah, GA, we relocated to Ohio after making a quick pitstop in Virginia to be closer to his family and put down some roots. I have since fallen in love with all of the seasons (even that cold one!) and have enjoyed finding all that Ohio has to offer.
When I'm not working, I love spending time with my family - including my 3 dogs and 6 cats. Finding new places to explore has been a family favorite, and I love the Mill Creek area. I also enjoy gardening, cooking, and watching movies while being smothered by a cat or three. I've also started using my crafting hobbies to create enrichment and pet products to sell in support of animal welfare efforts in our area.
Even though I officially only started The Cheerful Chug in 2026, I have been working with animals professionally for over 20 years in veterinary medicine and animal welfare settings. I also worked for a pet sitting company during college, and it has been my dream to start my own business ever since. I am excited to begin this new chapter and will strive to create the premier pet care experience in our area. I can't wait for you to join us!

We're proud to be a part of the Mahoning Valley and believe good things happen when you give back to your community. To support the shelters and animal rescues in our area, 15% of our retail profits go towards animals in their care.

MEET LIZZIE
Our Cheerful Chug!
Jake and I adopted Lizzie back in 2014 when we lived in Georgia. Her transformation from a scared rescue pup to the happiest, most cheerful chug (chihuahua/pug mix) has been one of the most rewarding things to witness. So when it came to naming our pet care business, it just made sense to name it after her!
